We recognize the urgent need to safeguard a sustainable environment for future generations, through the protection of our natural resources. For this reason, the first major activity for Don’t Waste Barbados is an educational programme, which will directly engage young people.

Our objective is to educate young people about the importance of environmental sustainability and encourage them to take positive action towards solutions to reduce litter, using technology and real-world learning opportunities.

We have partnered with a company called Ellipsis Earth, to provide an online education platform for real-world environmental science to approximately 300 initial student participants.

During the 3-week pilot programme with Ellipsis Earth, young people will participate in online webinars, and two days of data collection of litter and planned clean up initiatives.

By using the platform, we can identify trends and measure impact, celebrate big wins and target critical hotspots. Ellipsis Earth also champions effective science communication, to tell the right stories to the right audiences and create the most lasting impact. Data tells a story. Stories drive change.
